A chartered engineer and member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), Anthony has over 30 years of international industry experience.

He is the driving force behind international projects at McBains and set up the Athens office in 2009; capitalising on his diverse project experience from across the UK, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

A Greek national and a graduate of the University of Alexandria in Egypt, Anthony is fluent in both Greek and Arabic, as well as English.

As a technical expert, Anthony has project-led and co-ordinated inter-disciplinary teams and managed multiple consultants in different countries and locations. He has been involved in high-level discussions and negotiations with authorities, lenders, SPVs and key stakeholders; fostering collaboration in order to achieve timely project financial close and the smooth handover of projects at the project completion stage.

Anthony has extensive experience in leading, structuring and advising on complex Public–Private Partnership (PPP) projects, analysing risks and offering technical solutions to mitigate them. He has worked as technical advisor and independent certifier for the public sector employer, “Authority”, supported Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) in international PPP bids; advising on the facilities management (FM) and life-cycle costing (LCC) aspects and has acted as technical advisor to senior lenders.

Working with the European Investment Bank (EIB), Anthony helped to deliver the very first PPP project in Greece - the Attica Schools PPP; providing advice on the PPP obligations and assisting the legal advisers in the formulation of contracts suitable for the local market. He also carried out detailed analysis of the SPV’s proposed materials and formulated a 30-year life cycle-plan and methodology for the maintenance of the schools.

As part of a panel of experts, Anthony has provided technical due diligence on urban regeneration projects for the European Investment Bank and has worked as a technical expert with the bank’s JESSICA initiative in Greece; during which he has provided technical advice for the Broadband Network Development in Rural Areas of Central Greece PPP and the Athens Bus Passenger Information System PPP projects.

In Cyprus, Anthony has developed a workstream of high-rise mixed use projects in the project monitoring arena including the high profile Ayia Napa Marina (phase 1) and Trilogy, Limassol projects, amongst others.

As a natural innovator and advocate of environmental initiatives, Anthony pioneered the use of geothermal energy in the UK, with his ideas and solutions going on to become industry-standard. He has extensive experience of designing and implementing sustainable solutions for a wide variety of building types and has won numerous industry awards and commendations.
